Important August astrology events that will close out the summer
From the full moon to Virgo season, August astrology events are aplenty
The end of summer is near, but August astrology events prove that the cosmos show no signs of slowing down.
As our August horoscope indicates, Leo season will be fiery (per usual), seven planetary bodies are stationed retrograde and all of the various moon phases will evoke a different energy within us.
Mark your calendars (great gifts astrology fans love, as you know) and get ready for all that's ahead.
August astrology events to mark down
1. The full moon
- When: August 13, 2022
August's Sturgeon Moon will close out 2022's supermoons, and it'll call on us to reexamine how we pay attention to ourselves and others. It can also act as an opportunity to complete those tasks we've been pushing off. (No judgement—we've all been there!)
"The August full moon happens during Leo season and manifests in the sign of Aquarius," author and astrologer Narayana Montúfar previously told My Imperfect Life. "This is the zodiac axis that deals with balancing the efforts we invest in ourselves and what we do for the collective, so we can expect to feel a pull between these two areas of our lives."
Narayana Montúfar is an astrologer and an expert in the astrological studies of the Moon and the author of Moon Signs: Unlock Your Inner Luminary Power. She was one of Medium.com’s Authority Magazine 2020’s Strong Female Leaders and one of Vogue’s 13 Astrologers to Follow in 2021.
2. Uranus retrograde
- When: August 25, 2022 to January 23, 2023
When we hear the term "retrograde," we oftentimes feel on edge (though astrologers insist we shouldn't). However, when Uranus spins backwards, it's actually a pretty calming experience.
When the planet is direct, we oftentimes feel as though unexpected and impulsive events have made a great impact on us. When it goes retrograde, it can be an opportunity to examine how we handled those sudden experiences and asses how we'd like to proceed.
"[We can] make more informed and conscious decisions as to whether these paths forward for us now that we are stepping outside that tornado of change," says astrologer Noush.
Since Uranus retrograde will be happening within the sign of Virgo, we can expect to feel hyper-focused on areas in our lives including finances, values and skillsets. Noush also suggests that having a look at our astrological birth charts and the 14-18th degrees of fixed signs to see where we might feel a shift in our lives.
An astrologer, creative and crystal enthusiast, Noush believes in the combination of energy healing and practical spirituality to bring meaning into our lives. 3. Virgo season
- When: August 22 to September 22
Curtains down! The show is over for Leos, and we can expect a little bit of TLC after the dramatics. Though Virgo season can have an anxious energy to it, this year is all about taking a breather.
"This season offers the opportunity to slow down and put ourselves back together— clearing the cutter after the storm that hit during Leo season," Noush says.
You might feel inclined to establish new habits and tap into the values you hold dear.
4. The new moon
- When: August 27
Closing out the month is the new moon, a lunation that might make us feel a tad restless. It's important to work with others during this time to pursue new avenues that you might not have necessarily explored before.
"I can see people being really inspired to suddenly take charge of their lives, organize things and really get a good handle of anything that might've been chaotic at this point in life," Noush says.
