Sorry Austin lovers, the actor does indeed have a girlfriend. The actor is currently in a relationship with Kaia Gerber—who accompanied him to the Golden Globes on January 10, 2023—where they were caught sharing a smooch following his big win. 

For those who don't know, Kaia is a model and Italian bob trendsetter but also the daughter of 90s icon, Cindy Crawford.

Austin and Kaia have reportedly been dating since December 2021—following Kaia's split from Euphoria's Jacob Elordi. They went on to make their red carpet debut at the Met Gala 2022 and since then, the couple has treated us to a number of swoon-worthy moments.  Most recently, in fact, Austin and Kaia stepped out to pose arm in arm at the Time100 gala, so it's safe to say they're still going strong. 

Now, as of May 2023, the pair have been dating for over a year and a half, with their names once again hitting the headlines, with rather juicy reports claiming they've gotten engaged. But before you recommence your violin playing, it seems the rumors are false...

Are Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler engaged?

So, is there actually anything to these Kaia Gerber/Austin Butler engagement news? The short answer is no, no there isn't.

The rumors reached a head on Thursday, May 25, 2023, after DeuxMoi, an anonymous celebrity gossip account, alleged that the Elvis actor had popped the question back in April. They posted: "News about your favorite Elvis, can confirm he's engaged with the model girlfriend. He proposed back in April but they want to keep it low-key." 

This naturally sent the internet into a tailspin, however following the post, DeuxMoi then posted another update on their Story (as per Grazia), sharing snaps of the couple seemingly moving in together, with a caption that read: "Kaia & Austin moving day in April! Sources are saying not engaged…yet!"

TMZ has also since reported that a source close to Kaia and Austin has confirmed that they are infact, NOT engaged. 

So there you have it folks, there are no wedding bells on the horizon just yet!

Austin Butler's dating history

Before his relationship with Kaia, who is also one of Pete Davidson's ex-girlfriends, Austin was linked to a number of stars, including Lily-Rose Depp and was involved in a long-term relationship with High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens.

While neither confirmed any sort of relationship, the internet went wild with rumors that Lily and Austin were an item after they were seemingly photographed sharing a passionate kiss, following a dinner date in August 2021.

The former Disney stars were first linked in 2011 and dated for nine years, before sadly calling it quits in January 2020.

A source told People that their "busy schedules" was a contributing factor in their breakup. The insider said: “They really loved each other and have been through some of their toughest life moments together."

Before adding, “busy work schedules and travel definitely put a strain on the relationship. They were a wonderful couple and it’s really sad that it didn’t work out.”

Internet sleuths recently discovered that Austin's current girlfriend Kaia was introduced to Vanessa on the red carpet at the world premiere of High School Musical 2, which came out in 2007. Kaia, who was seven years old at the time, fangirled over a then-19-year-old Vanessa, who was the star of the film.

And while Austin and Vanessa have both moved on, fans are now claiming that Vanessa played a big hand in actually manifesting his Elvis role.

In fact, they have pointed out that she was actually the one to encourage him to audition for the role in the first place. Appearing on Live with Ryan and Kelly in 2019 (a year before their split) Vanessa shared that she was so 'proud' of him for landing the role and said: "It's so crazy because last December, we were driving along and we were listening to Christmas music, and then an Elvis Presley Christmas song came on.
