The December 2022 full moon is powerful but can be triggering, especially for these four signs
It's key to stay open to new ideas and practice self-care when needed, according to the pros
The December 2022 full moon will get its glow on alongside holiday lights.
The next full moon, a "somewhat triggering" lunar phase according to astrologer Noush will be potent thanks to its conjunction to Mars Retrograde, but that does not mean it won't have its positives.
"If we are open-minded and welcoming to new information, there is much to learn during this full moon," she says. "A negative theme to expect is conflict with others and chaos in travel, so leave extra time and pack extra patience!"
She continues, "By preparing yourself mentally to face whatever might be presented to you at this full moon, you can ride the waves without taking anything too personally and attaching yourself too much to the opinions or advice of others."
Curious what more to expect? We'll break down the final full moon of 2022 for you!
An astrologer, creative and crystal enthusiast, Noush believes in the combination of energy healing and practical spirituality to bring meaning into our lives. December 2022 full moon: what you need to know
- When: December 7, 2022 (The Cold Moon)
"Information, communication or interactions with others can be more dramatic or stirring than usual," Noush adds. "Preparing for this new moon has a lot to do with working on developing mental calm and clarity."
Things could feel a little intense, but take a breather and if you need to explore a few self-care practices, by all means!
"It provides us with more choices and new ways to learn how to align our true desires with our words and actions," she continues. "Something which was once quite confusing may start to make sense or you may adopt a different way of taking on the opinions or facts brought on by others."
Who will be most affected by the December 2022 full moon?
According to Noush, four signs will likely feel the full moon's intensity more so than others: Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces and Virgo. But, depending on your astrological birth chart, you're bound to feel things differently than those around you.
"Anyone who has major planets near 16 degrees of mutable signs can expect to feel this full moon more than others, as it will be mentally and emotionally engaging your senses and bringing out certain truths and feelings which may have been unresolved for a while," she says.
How the December 2022 full moon will affect each sign

Aries
Right in time for holiday get-togethers, you'll be connected to your loved ones this lunation, Price insists.
"Your house of communication is being illuminated by the full moon, so get ready to open up to friends and family," he says. "Follow this urge. It will be a release to share what is on your mind—and also quite therapeutic."
But in order to make the most out of the full moon energy, you'll have to be proactive as well, according to Price.
"Follow this urge further and make the time to have a night in with friends or go and visit your family members," he adds.
Taurus
No need to walk on eggshells, Taurus. You can be upfront without crossing the line.
"This full moon encourages you to be honest when people ask for your opinion," Price warns. "Let them know exactly how you think and be polite but do not apologize for being your own person."
Now's the time to lift the figurative mask and proceed the way you want to.
"You may have had to wear many masks lately to keep the peace, which has worked so far, but now it's time to be your brilliant, authentic self," Price adds.
Gemini
Ready for your next chapter, Gemini? It's going to be a good one.
"This full moon offers you a new start, a clean page, the seedling of something that could become great," Price says.
How exciting! And even though it's a bit cold out—to say the least—Price also thinks a little time in nature might do a Gemini some good. (Bundle up reasonably, of course.)
"You may also find a lot of wealth headed your way once the seed grows, but for now, connect with nature outdoors as this will help you to be present and grateful for all the blessings heading your way," he recommends.
Cancer
There's no "i" in team, Cancer. Sometimes you need to rely on those around you—and that's perfectly OK!
"You may receive some resistance around the full moon, most likely under challenging tasks related to your work," Price says. "However, the full moon will ask you to rely on teamwork to get the job done."
Why not take a page from Aries' book and connect with those around you.
"It is great to be around others at the full moon, so find time to see a good friend," Price adds.
Leo
What better time to be a homebody than the cold weather? Embrace it, Leo. It's time to find a warm throw, make yourself a cup of tea and embrace all-things hygge.
"Take a moment to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor when it comes to your home," Price says. "After all, the house is our sanctuary. Things will feel stable and secure, even if hurdles are thrown your way. You may even experience some genuine relaxation and luxury at home."
And don't forget about yourself in the midst of all this holiday gift-giving.
"The full moon will be a great chance to treat yourself and make something that brings a smile to your face. You've earned it!"
Virgo
"See the full moon as a time to stroll rather than sprint," Price says. "Do not be too spontaneous. Take things as they come."
As you regain a bit of balance in your life, be cooperative and compromise if needed.
Price adds, "This full moon is going to be an excellent chance to find some balance after what may have been a chaotic few weeks. Remember, you are light and dark, fire and water, and you need to balance yourself as such from time to time."
Libra
There's a lot happening, and it's important to take a moment for yourself during this moon phase.
"There are times coming that will require a lot of focus and attention, so take some time to retreat and be on your own while you can," Price recommends. "Remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup, and this full moon is when you should refill that cup in your own peace and quiet, away from the noise and crowds."
It's likely that you'll give this sound and reasonable advice to someone else. Why not do the same thing yourself?
"You value your privacy but only sometimes give yourself enough of it. A little bit of silence and stillness will really rejuvenate you," Price adds.
Scorpio
It's an exciting time to be a Scorpio—it's all about love, but not just the romantic type.
"Things will be exciting and positive for you around the full moon, especially in your relationships. Connections can manifest in many ways, along with other meaningful deep types of love," Price says. "The full moon will be a time of desire and joy, so do not resist it, as you will only end up pushing against your own happiness."
Sagittarius
Embrace that nostalgia, Sagittarius.
"The full moon will invite you to lean into the positive parts of your past," Price says. "Those things that brought you such joy in childhood are being encouraged now. Find joy in the simple pleasures in your life—there are many of them once you start to pay attention."
Plus, someone you haven't seen in quite some time might reappear. Won't it be nice to catch up?
"Look back upon old pictures, and you will be surprised at how happy you feel," Price says. You may find an old friend resurfaces. All reunions will be very happy occasions."
And while you're at it, might we recommend a few of our favorite nostalgic TV shows of all time to help you embrace la bella luna's energy? (You're welcome!)
Capricorn
Caps should use this full moon as an opportunity to perfect their skills, whatever they might be.
"Take the time to really get good, and believe in yourself," Price says. "This is a longer process than just the full moon, but be prepared to step into that energy. You will be charged with inspiration and determination—use it as fuel to spur you on. The rewards will be many down the road."
Just don't let your self-doubt get in the way of this journey!
Aquarius
"Get ready to feel some very high vibes as the full moon sends you warm rays, almost like you are sunbathing," Price says. "This energy will fill you with vitality and make you introspective."
And besides, who doesn't need an uplifting mindset every now and then? It's crucial!
Price adds, "You may feel ready to work out, party or gather a few friends! You will be high energy, and even if things don't go to plan, these positive vibes will continue."
Pisces
Now is the time to focus on your connections and how to make them feel authentic.
"The full moon will be a time when you can make some conscious changes in the relationships in your life," Price says. "If you are not specific about what you wish to change, you may never implement those changes into your relationships."
Once this full moon is over, you can expect things to be less tense towards the end of the month.
"The new moon [in December] can be a lot easier to navigate than the full moon earlier in the month," Noush says. "There is logic and reasoning behind it, the moons energy grounds our mind and body inviting us to take an intentional step in the direction of a big goal."
Sounds like a good way to close out the year, right?
