Wondering how to boost your sex drive this summer? Rebecca Alvarez Story has a few tips and tricks
Curious about how to boost your sex drive? If you want the friskiest time of the year to live up to its name, we might have some tips to give out.
Now is the time to get some Vitamin D—yes, sunshine does make you hornier, in fact—and embrace a summertime state of mind. Sexologist Rebecca Alvarez Story, co-founder of Bloomi, will tell you just what you need to do to soak up all the steaminess that the season brings. Enjoy!
How to boost your sex drive this summer
If you're attempting our wellness experts' best sex positions for the summer or toying with the idea of sex in pools (not for the faint of heart, we might add), allow these libido boosters to get things going.
1. Stay active
Now is not the time to skimp on your fitness routine. (And yes, there are exercises for better sex, if you were searching for a reason to lace up your sneaks.)
"Fitness can have many physical and psychological benefits which can in return, enhance sex drive," Alvarez Story said. "For example, aerobic exercises improve circulation or blood flow, ensuring a healthy circulatory system. This is essential for arousal."
These additional exercises can boost your sex drive if you need a little gym motivation.
2. Minimize stress
We know it's easier said than done, but find a way to de-stress that works well for you, whether it's enjoying self-care day ideas like meditating or soaking in bath tea, TikTok's favorite wellness trend.
"Stress can have a negative effect on a lot of aspects of health, including sex drive," Alvarez Story warned. "It can affect sexual dissatisfaction and drop your libido."
Should you be looking for a steamier way to ease the tension, she suggests massage therapy.
"[It] wakes up your muscles, improves the circulation of blood and lymph fluid, and drains harmful toxins," she added. "If you want some help along the way, Relax Body and Massage Oil is a clean massage oil that doubles as an everyday body oil with lavender aromatherapy."

3. Add toys...
"Adding extra fun toys and accessories can enhance pleasure and add little extra heat to your already hot summer sex," Alvarez Story said.
Whether you're looking for the best sex toys for couples or the best sex toys for solo play, our expert-backed, tried-and-tested guides will help you find what's right. Alvarez Story is in favor of Bloomi's Massage and Play Mini.
"Both toys are made from medical-grade silicone, which is soft and smooth against the skin," she said. "And the elegant design makes it easy to hold the toys in the palm of your hand and hold them against your body."

4. ...and lube
"Whether it is used during solo or partnered play, lube has many benefits," Alvarez Story said. "It reduces friction which in turn decreases discomfort and increases pleasure; it prevents dryness and it can even help to prevent condom breakage. Insufficient lubrication may lead to pain during sex, making it difficult to get aroused."
