Is Michael Cimino single? What we know about the 'Never Have I Ever' star's love life
He definitely keeps his love life on the down-low, but is Michael Cimino single? We did some sleuthing...
Is Michael Cimino single? In Never Have I Ever, Devi Vishwakumar has taken a liking to his character Ethan Morales, but what's the deal on his love life IRL?
Never Have I Ever season 4 premiered on Netflix on Thursday, June 8, and unsurprisingly, our dramatic protagonist Devi (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) has set her sights on another fella, causing the Ben/Paxton debate to temporarily fizzle. Cimino skates his way into hearts at Sherman Oaks High School as Ethan, and manages to catch viewers' attention in the process.
And if you're wondering where else you know him from, there are a few places you may have seen Michael before! He set hearts aflutter in Hulu's Love, Victor (one of the best LGBTQ+ TV shows to stream during Pride Month and beyond, FYI) and he even scored a few cameos in How I Met Your Father season 2.
It appears there's no slowing down for Cimino, and plenty of his roles focus on matters of the heart. But what do we know about his love life off-screen, if anything? For one, he doesn't want to label anything where sexuality is concerned.
"As of right now, I am straight," Cimino told NBC News in 2020. "I don't want to put myself in a box and put myself in a position where if I were to come out as bi or as gay 10 years from now, that I was defending an identity that was being true to myself."
Here's what is happening with the actor romantically as of late.
Is Michael Cimino single?
At this time, Michael Cimino appears to be single. We haven't caught any pap shots of the actor-musician mingling with anyone in particular, nor do we get a look into his love life on Instagram (his handle is @itsmichaelcimino, BTW).
Perhaps that's how he intends it? There appears to be some deliberate separation between his professional life and romantic life, but as far as work, the 23-year-old is embracing whatever comes his way.
"I think the best thing about being an artist is doing things that put you out of your comfort zone, and to try to learn new things from that," he told Hero in 2021.
We certainly love that mentality!
Though Cimino has shared that he is straight, he shared with NBC News that understanding the nature of sexuality is important.
"I don't feel that anyone is 100 percent straight or 100 percent wherever you lie on the scale," he said. "I feel like sexuality is not necessarily fluid. It's more like a spectrum. And so finding out where you lie on that is important."

Michael Cimino's relationship timeline—who has he dated?
In 2019, Cimino ended his several years-long relationship with Mava Gomez, a YouTube personality slash actress who worked on the TV series Unchartered Adventure from 2021-2022.
Though the two don't currently appear to be in close contact, nor are they following one another on social media (in fact, the two deleted all photos of each other on their social media following the break-up), the actor told Distractify in 2019: "She assumed a huge part in my life. I won’t simply eradicate her and imagine she won’t ever exist."
It's unclear who Cimino dated before Gomez, if anyone. What we do know, however, is that he is hoping his roles, particularly as gay character Victor in Love, Victor, will help people embrace who they are in all aspects of their lives.
"I hope that this show inspires people to be who they are authentically and with no regrets," he told Good Morning America. "I think that's really what this show is about."
In fact, he also shared in the same interview that being able to shine a light on an LGBTQIA+ character was super important for him. "I was really drawn to the role because my cousin's gay and I really wanted to kind of be that voice he didn't have, and for the other kids who are or were in his position,
"That was a really big driving force for me, as well as I have a lot of friends that are gay."
