Who is Prince Friedrich, 'Bridgerton' royal and eligible bachelor?
The queen offers up her nephew Prince Friedrich, 'Bridgerton' royal, to Edwina Sharma in season 2. But who is he exactly?
If you’ve been watching Bridgerton since season one, you’ll probably remember that Daphne Bridgerton’s journey to becoming the Duchess of Hastings wasn't as smooth as she set out for it to be. While she didn’t have to kiss many frogs, she was courted by a few. However, the biggest contender for Daphne’s heart wasn’t a frog at all but actually a prince: Prince Friedrich, to be exact.
The dashing royal had fans thinking for a moment that we would be seeing Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) have a royal wedding. But with the end of Bridgerton season 2 suggesting a royal wedding is still an option in the show's future, what do we know about this Prince Friedrich and will we see more of him in the Bridgerton world?

Who is Prince Friedrich, 'Bridgerton' bachelor?
Prince Friedrich of Prussia is introduced as Queen Charlotte's nephew in Bridgerton season one episode three, "Art of the Swoon." He arrives in England in order to find a bride.
The queen introduces him to Daphne in her debut season as not only is she a Bridgerton but also has been named the queen’s diamond, which for those who don’t know is a very special accolade among those in society as the title is bestowed upon only one girl per season by the queen. It also means that a girl's chances of finding a match are highly increased, as who doesn’t want a diamond, after all?
However, even though in season one Prince Friedrich is smitten with Daphne, he is sadly competing for her heart alongside the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), which for many—including Daphne—means there’s no real competition at all.
So, alas, Prince Friedrich didn’t win the heart of Daphne in season one but the ending of season two suggests the prince is going to have a second chance at love with none other than season two’s diamond, Edwina Sharma, played by Charithra Chandran. Maybe our prince has a thing for diamonds? And could a royal wedding still be in Ms. Sharma’s future? We certainly hope so!
Who plays Prince Friedrich on 'Bridgerton'?
Freddie Stroma plays Prince Friedrich and he may look a little familiar to those who are fans of a certain wizarding series called Harry Potter.
The 35-year-old actor who plays our dear dashing Prince Friedrich featured in a small role in the Harry Potter franchise. Stroma played Gryffindor Quidditch player Cormac McLaggen in the final three Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
To those who are fans of Harry Potter but don’t remember Stroma's character, it may be because the character is the complete opposite of his role in Bridgerton. In the Harry Potter movies, his character is super arrogant; in the books, Cormac hits Harry over the head with his beater bat during a Quidditch match. He also accompanies Hermione Granger to Professor Slughorn’s Christmas Party. And if that doesn’t jog your memory, he also vomited on Professor Snape's shoes, which in our opinion is the only shining moment for the character.
Freddie Stroma is not the only Bridgerton cast member to appear in the Harry Potter film series, as eagle-eyed fans believe they spotted Regé-Jean Page in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I.
Stroma has also appeared in Pitch Perfect, the Lifetime series Unreal and HBO’s Game of Thrones and Peacemaker.
Will Prince Friedrich be in 'Bridgerton' season 3?
Considering how season two ended with Queen Charlotte letting Edwina know that her royal nephew was single and ready to mingle, we definitely feel that Edwina’s story doesn’t end there.
The Bridgerton season 2 ending suggests the show is setting viewers up with a romance between her and Prince Friedrich of Prussia in the upcoming Bridgerton season 3 and, to be honest, fans aren’t mad about it. We all just want to see Edwina happy after all!
In the meantime, catch up with Bridgerton season 2, streaming now on Netflix.
