The Billboard Music Awards 2021 are taking place this weekend, with all of our favorite music stars gathering to celebrate the biggest chart successes of the past year.

As always, you can expect an exciting night full of iconic red carpet looks, star-studded guests and presenters, and of course, some special performances. Live music, we've missed you!

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the show, including the nominees, performers, who's hosting, and most importantly, how to watch.

When and where are the Billboard Music Awards 2021?

The BMAs are taking place this Sunday, May 23, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony kicks off at 8 pm, ET/5 pm PT but all the action from the E! red carpet is starts streaming at 6:30 pm, ET/3:30 pm PT.

Who is hosting the Billboard Music Awards 2021?

For the past three years, the show has been hosted by Kelly Clarkson but this year, her The Voice co-star Nick Jonas will be doing the honors for the first time. The singer shared a cute promo video for the show on Twitter, preemptively crowning himself 'best host ever'. We can't wait to watch him entertain the crowd!

How can I watch the Billboard Music Awards online in the US and Canada?

In the US, the Billboard Music Awards 2021 are airing live on NBC Sunday 23 May so, if you're in the US and have a cable subscription, all you have to do is tune in at 8 pm.  The BMAs will also be streaming live on Peacock TV

If you've cut the cord, and don't have a cable subscription you can still catch the show on a streaming TV service like: Sling TV or fuboTV, which make it simple and quick to sign up. Sling TV has a great offer for new subscribers—just $10 for the first month.  FuboTV's package is pricer ($65 per month) but, for that, you get a great bundle of local and cable channels and, helpfully, it offers a free seven day trial—so you can check it out before making the commitment!  Viewers in one of the 33 regions that locast (not-for-profit broadcaster) streams to can watch along for free.

Canadians get to watch the show live on CTV—the network will be broadcasting from  8 pm.

How can I watch the Billboard Music Awards online from anywhere?

If you're away from home and the Billboard Music Awards aren't being aired, you can still watch along with everyone else by accessing the streaming services you already pay for.

For that, you'll need a VPN—a handy piece of software that allows you to set your mobile or laptop to your home location. The VPN we recommend is ExpressVPN. It's simple to set up, with a choice of subscription plans (starting at £9.47 for the single month plan) and, best of all, it has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Who's performing at the Billboard Music Awards 2021?

As well as hosting the show, Nick Jonas will be hitting the stage with the Jonas Brothers to perform live on the night. 80s pop band Duran Duran will also make a special virtual appearance—performing live from London—while The Weeknd, P!nk, and Twenty-One Pilots will all perform live, in Los Angeles.

One of the most highly-anticipated performances for fans will be BTS—set to storm the stage with their new single Butter. The super seven broke yet another record (their own, obvs) with the video release for Butter—hit over 110 MILLION views on YouTube in just 24 hours....We stan and we really can't wait!

The Weeknd dominates the nominations with nods in 16 categories including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, and Top 100—hopefully it makes up for his Grammys snub. DaBaby has received 11 nominations, including double appearances in 'Top streaming song' and 'Top collaboration'. Meanwhile, the late rapper Pop Smoke is close behind with 10 nominations—including two for his album, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, which was released posthumously.

P!nk is set to receive the receive the Icon Award, while Drake is being honored, this year, with Billboard's Artist of the Decade—we're sure he'll be in his feelings about that.
