Who is The Weeknd dating right now? The latest intel on the singer's girlfriend sitch
Is there a The Weeknd girlfriend? Is The Weeknd dating anyone right now? Here's what we know—from those Lily-Rose Depp rumors, to a recap of his romantic past
Is The Weeknd dating anyone right now? As the new-wave crooner delights fans with his acting debut in HBO's The Idol, here's a look inside his dating life—including his famous past girlfriends.
Singer, actor and producer The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) may be best known for his edgy and popular music, but he's also been involved in a number of high-profile romances, from his on-and-off relationship with Bella Hadid to those dating rumors (and suggestive lyrics) that linked him to actress, Angelina Jolie.
Most recently though, thanks to his on-screen relationship with Lily-Rose Depp in The Idol, fans have been wondering if there's actually something going between the co-stars IRL. So, allow us to wade through all the rumors and share who—if anyone—The Weeknd is actually dating...
Who is The Weeknd dating?
As of June 2023, The Weeknd reportedly is not dating Lily-Rose Depp. He is in fact thought to have a girlfriend, however. It's rumored that Abel is dating model and DJ, Simi Khadra—the younger sister of Kendall Jenner's close friend, Fai Khadra. They were first linked in 2022, before fuelling the speculation further after they were photographed kissing on February 19, 2022, at The Weeknd's birthday bash at Delilah in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At the time, a source told Entertainment Tonight: "The Weeknd and Simi have been seeing each other and having fun together. They were acting very couple-y this past weekend at his birthday celebration in Vegas.
"It's easy since they have known each other for a long time. Simi is supportive of The Weeknd and they have a natural flirtation and chemistry."
Then, in April 2023 the couple was spotted cozying up at Coachella, seemingly confirming that they're still going strong—albeit, keeping their relationship somewhat out of the spotlight.
The Weeknd has actually been clear about the fact that he want to keep his private life as private as possible, telling GQ recently that he feels a level of guilt naming his romantic partners, foisting the spotlight onto them too.
When asked if he feels guilty about thrusting fame onto his girlfriends, he confessed, "Yes. I do feel guilty. For sure. That’s why I don’t… I try not to do too much. I just try not to bring attention to myself.
"And I just love being in normal situations, man. It’s such a great feeling. To be able to just like go on a walk and not being in a fucking SUV."
Are the Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp dating?
As mentioned, The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp are really not an item. They are, however, playing on-screen lovers in the upcoming HBO series The Idol (which yes, is the same series that sparked all that The Weeknd and Rolling Stone drama). But apart from that, the two are just co-stars.
In fact, in terms of Lily-Rose Depp's dating sitch, the model-turned-actress has recently confirmed that she is in a relationship with singer and rapper, 070 Shake.
Who has The Weeknd dated in the past?
Aside from Lily-Rose, the Star Boy singer has been linked to a number of notable names, from Bella Hadid to Selena Gomez—so here's the lowdown on his full dating history.
The Weeknd and Angelina Jolie
Back in July 2021, following his second split from Bella Hadid—who is now dating Marc Kalman—The Weeknd was thought to be dating Angelina Jolie.
Rumors started swirling after the pair were pictured enjoying a very cozy-looking dinner in LA. Fans also began speculating that The Weeknd alluded to their brief relationship in his track 'Here We Go Again' where he sang: "My new girl, she a movie star."
Alas though, those rumors swiftly fizzled out without Abel or Angelina ever confirming (or denying) a thing.
The Weeknd and Bella Hadid
The Weeknd and Bella Hadid famously dated between 2015 and 2016, with Bella starring in his 'In The Night' music video. Following their split, she also famously walked the Victoria's Secret show, where The Weeknd was performing—a moment that has been immortalized by the internet as one of the most iconic ex-encounters.
Bella is also thought to have inspired a number of The Weeknd's ballads, with fans claiming hits like 'Save Your Tears' and 'Wasted Times' are about the model.
The pair went on to rekindle things once again in 2018, before splitting for good in August 2019.
In an interview with Teen Vogue in 2017, after their first break-up, she confessed that the pair were still friends. Bella said, "It was my first breakup … and so public," she said. "As an outsider, you might think I handled it so well, but it's always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily.
"It'll be hard for a while. Love hurts, but you have to pull through. But I'll always respect him, and I'll always love him."
Bella began dating dating photographer Marc Kalman in July 2021, and the pair are reportedly still together.
The Weeknd and Selena Gomez
Two months after his first split from Bella Hadid, The Weeknd began dating Selena Gomez in 2016.
The Weeknd and Selena made their red carpet debut at The Met Gala in 2017 but split in October of the same year, with Selena Gomez then briefly being linked to her ex, Justin Bieber.
Like Bella, Selena is thought to have inspired a number of songs, including 'Call Out My Name' and 'Party Monster.'
Following his breakup with Selena and ahead of his reconciliation with Bella, The Weeknd was also linked to model Yovanna Ventura in 2017 and DJ Chantel Jeffries in 2018, but nothing romantic was ever confirmed by the singer himself.
