Who is Theo James? Here's everything we know about the hunky 'White Lotus' actor

If you've been catching up with White Lotus season 2, you may find yourself wondering where you've seen Theo James,a.k.a. Cameron, before—especially after that rather blush-inducing nude scene.

Who is Theo James from 'The White Lotus'?

Theo James is a British actor hailing from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. He landed his first major TV acting role in 2010 and has since gone on to star in some mega film franchises, but we'll get into that later!  

James was announced as a cast addition to The White Lotus season 2 in February 2022, per The Hollywood Reporter. Of his character Cameron Sullivan, Theo told Collider: "In his arrogance and his place of privilege, he thinks that money allows certain people to do what they want to do, which is obviously a completely toxic place to think from. That’s what [creator Mike White is] commenting on." 

"But the other thing that Mike is commenting on is that this couple, as messed up as they are and as toxic as they are, get off on these games," James continued. "Not only are they in love, but they have an incredible sex life. They’re highly attracted to each other still, after several children and being together for many years. It’s a strange and terrible place to be, but it’s also a place that works and is intoxicating."

Theo James fans certainly got an eye-full in the premiere of The White Lotus season two, but it turns out the scene was almost way more "graphic."

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Theo revealed: "The initial version we shot was way too much. So, we did a more subtle version. They toned it [down]."

Theo then added that there is a reason behind the nude scene, saying: "It's never arbitrary. It's always character-driven. It's always, you know, moving the [story] forward," before quipping, "It is in my contract that I'm not allowed to do anything without being completely naked. It's funny because we're all kind of naked. It's a holiday show, really," 

For anyone who has not seen the scene (all three of you), Theo's character Cameron goes back to the hotel room of Harper (played by Aubrey Plaza) to borrow some swimming trunks. He then strips off to change, but not before Harper catches a glimpse of his nude reflection. The scene sparked a major reaction from fans, with many even questioning if the actor was sporting a prosthetic penis—however, this is so far yet to be confirmed.
