Who is Cailee Spaeny and where have you seen the 'Priscilla' star before?
Cailee Spaeny is taking on her biggest role to date, and she has us 'all shook up.' Here's everything we know about the rising star
It seems actor Cailee Spaeny has been connected to the King of Rock since her childhood, so it's only fitting that she's taking on the esteemed role of Priscilla Presley—beehive, winged eyeliner, and all.
"My mom was obsessed with Elvis," the actress told Vogue ahead of Priscilla's premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival. "She was an avid collector of his memorabilia and had what seemed like a shrine to him in our house growing up."
Between family Graceland visits—she's one of eight children—and Elvis singalongs, the young star was primed to play the musician's famous muse and former wife in Sofia Coppola's upcoming film. She has Hollywood "all shook up," but who is the actor behind the '60s icon? We have a hunch she's just getting started.
Who is Cailee Spaeny, star of 'Priscilla'?
Though Cailee Spaeny is set to make her mark on Hollywood in her biggest role to date, chances are you've seen her elsewhere. She's most known for starring in 2018's sci-fi hit Pacific Rim: Uprising, as well as On the Basis of Sex and Bad Times at the El Royale, all of which premiered in the same year. (She was quite busy!)
On the small screen, Spaeny has landed TV roles in Mare of Easttown and The First Lady. Her musical roots were at the forefront in 2019 when she starred in The All-American Rejects' "Send Her to Heaven" music video. Spaeny has also dabbled in vocals with a 2016 release, "Fallin'," according to IMDB. She can credit this love of performance to her time spent in Missouri's Springfield Little Theatre, where she starred as Ariel in a rendition of The Little Mermaid.
No matter what she plans to tackle, she does have a vision for her career.
"One of my goals is whatever I’ve done last, I want to do the exact opposite for my next role, I want to keep challenging and pushing myself,” she told Glass in 2021.
We'd say she's living up to her word, as her forthcoming films, Alien: Romulus and Civil War seem quite different from anything she's tackled previously.

Where is Cailee Spaeny from?
The Missouri native hails from a large family and is still getting used to premieres and the glamorous side of the business.
"I feel like I’ve only been in this for a second! It still blows my mind that part of my job is to walk around on carpets wearing beautiful dresses," she told Vogue three years ago. "I come from a very large family, so it was lots of hand-me-down clothes and shopping at second-hand stores and always trying to save money. So it still feels surreal to be able to pick and choose what my style is and what it means and what it says.”
We're definitely curious to see how her style evolves as her career progresses! (Thus far we've gotten some boho and quiet luxury vibes.)
Cailee Spaeny age: how old is she?
Born on July 24, 1998, Spaeny is currently 25 years old—and a Leo for the astrologically in tune! (It comes as no surprise that a beloved fire sign is gaining time in the spotlight.)
Who is Cailee Spaeny dating?
Although Spaeny will star in one of the most famous love stories of our time, we don't know much about her romantic life IRL, and she might seemingly try to keep it that way. We can't say the same for Jacob Elordi's dating life—the Elvis to her Priscilla in the upcoming biopic—but we'll be sure to keep you posted if any news develops.
What is 'Priscilla' about?
On the heels of Austin Butler's Elvis film in 2022, Priscilla's granddaughter Riley Keough starring in Daisy Jones & The Six (a fictional take on Fleetwood Mac's story) and, sadly, Lisa-Marie Presley's passing in January 2023, it has been a whirlwind for the famous family, but the project received the matriarch's stamp of approval—and tears following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
According to a synopsis of the anticipated film: "Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla's long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame."
There seems to be plenty lined up for the star-in-the-making post-Priscilla, and we are definitely keeping an eye on her career going forward. Considering the biopic earned a seven-minute standing ovation during the Venice Film Festival and a thumbs up from the legend herself, we'll go ahead and consider this a win for Spaeny, especially considering it's fairly heavy material for a breakout role.
"It’s very difficult to sit and watch a film about you and about your life and about your love. Sofia did an amazing job, she did her homework," Priscilla said during the Venice Film Festival. "And I really put everything out for her that I could."
Priscilla hits theaters on Friday, October 27.
