Who plays Abby in 'Ginny & Georgia'? Katie Douglas takes on the complex character
Here's what you need to know about Abby—the 'A' in 'MANG'
Who plays Abby in Ginny & Georgia?
The Netflix dramedy returned for a second season on January 5, and things got off to a complicated start, to say the least. When we caught up with Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and her friend group, MANG (Max, Abby, Nora, Ginny), the quartet was in shambles, and Abby was particularly on the outs with the rest of the clique. (What did Abby do in Ginny & Georgia season 1? We recap the whole friendship fiasco.)
Katie Douglas, who plays Abby, assumes a lot of responsibility with the role, as her character suffers from body dysmorphia and has plenty of her own issues to work through, in addition to the tension brewing between her friends. She struggles so much with her appearance that she taped her legs in order to appear thinner. Despite the heavy baggage, it's a challenge the actor is proud to tackle.
"In season 2 I definitely wanted to see her come into her own a little bit more and find something special about herself," Douglas revealed to Popternative about Abby. "I hope people can connect with it the same way that they did last time."
Even her co-stars take notice of Abby's transformation, including Damian Romeo, who plays Matt Press, and he sites his time on-screen with Douglas as one of his favorite memories of season 2.
"There's one scene in particular, it's during the school play where Matt Press finds out that Abby has been taping her legs, and it shocks him because it's the first time in the show that he realizes that his words have a serious effect on others," he told My Imperfect Life.
Let's get to know the woman behind Abby.
