She's one of the grooviest characters in the show but who plays Cloud in Firefly Lane?

The Netflix series follows the decades-spanning friendship between Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke), and in the midst, we've come to know many of the friends and family that orbit our dynamic duo, including Kate's husband Johnny (Ben Lawson), her dad Bud (Paul McGillion) and Tully's mom Cloud. 

The first part of Firefly Lane season 2 debuted on the streaming platform on Friday, December 2 (if you're curious about when you'll be able to see Firefly Lane season 2 part 2, we've got an official release date for you!) and the news episodes are packed with more hijinks from Tully's free-spirited, fun-loving and not entirely responsible mother. 

During that explosive season one Firefly Lane ending, we saw Cloud's house being raided by police and the single mother getting arrested for drug possession, leaving teenage Tully having to move away from Firefly Lane and live with her grandmother.

Season two delves even deeper into Cloud and Tully's tumultuous mother-daughter relationship, especially as adult Tully kicks off a search for her birth father against Cloud's wishes. But who is the actress behind the wild-child character? Let's find out. 

Who plays Cloud in 'Firefly Lane'? Meet Beau Garrett

Tully's mom Cloud is portrayed by American actress-model Beau Garrett in Firefly Lane.  

While co-stars Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke switch off duties of playing Tully and Kate with their younger counterparts, Ali Skovbye and Roan Curtis, Garrett plays Tully's mother both as a younger woman in the 1970s and as an older woman in the "present-day" early aughts in Firefly Lane season 2—thanks to a greying wig and some slightly questionable old-people makeup (sorry, not sorry). 

"Most of the era she appears in [the ‘70s] was very natural, which was really fun for me. I was very committed to the idea that Cloud was kind of eccentric—not a woman to be fussed with and not a woman who was really into makeup," Garrett said about playing Cloud in a February 2021 NewBeauty interview. "I’m glad that they allowed her to be that for that era, because I think that’s exactly how she would have been. Obviously, there was the one time that she got dressed up for her daughter’s birthday, but for the most part, makeup wasn’t her thing. She was quite anti-establishment and not really interested in being something beautiful for a male to look at."

As for depicting older Cloud, she told the outlet: "It’s interesting coming out on one side as an older woman and coming out the other side as who I am now…I try not to deal with an ego, but it’s funny. You’re pretty much like, 'Oh man, I have that to look forward to.'"

Though she plays the mother of 44-year-old actress Katherine Heigl's character Tully, Beau Garrett is actually only 39 years old. Her birthday is December 28, 1982, which makes her a Capricorn.

Beau Garrett segued from modeling to an acting career with her feature film debut in the 2006 horror movie Turistas starring Josh Duhamel and Olivia Wilde.
