Why we didn't get an Andrew Garfield Amelia Dimoldenberg reunion at the Oscars

Urm, why didn't we get an Andrew Garfield and Amelia Dimoldenberg reunion at the Oscars 2023? Ever since it was announced that everyone's favorite Chicken Shop Dater was once again headed to the red carpet to interview the world's A-listers, fans were manifesting an Amelia and Andrew interview 3.0. So why didn't we get one?

Who could forget that Andrew Garfield and Amelia Dimoldenberg moment at the Golden Globes? Their sparkling exchange still replays in our heads at least once a week, especially when the subject turned to their astrology compatibility—and don't even get us started on their very first meeting at the GQ Men of The Year Awards. 

And while we were all treated to a historic night at the Oscars—with Michelle Yeoh taking home Best Actress and Andrew and Florence Pugh presenting an award together (the moment is rightfully going viral)—fans were holding out that the Tick, Tick...Boom! actor would also reunite with Amelia at the afterparty. Alas, no such reunion came to fruition, but why not?

Why didn't we get an Andrew Garfield Amelia Dimoldenberg reunion at the Oscars 2023?

Ahead of the big night, where we would see which of the nominated Oscar 2023 movies and stars would come out on top, Amelia announced on TikTok that she would be interviewing stars on the red carpet of the Vanity Fair Oscar's Afterparty. For fans, this could only mean one thing...an Andrew Garfield Amelia Dimoldenberg moment 3.0.

As the night went on, fans kept their eyes peeled, refreshing their TikTok and Twitter feeds as frequently as the apps would allow, but sadly, no such moment came.

Instead, we saw Amelia chat with the likes of Oscar nominee Paul Mecscal (obviously an adorable exchange), The Little Mermaid's Halle Bailey and even Pedro Pascal—the 'internet's Daddy' as he's affectionately known on TikTok—but no Andrew.

So, why not? It seems the simplest answer is that they just didn't cross paths. Perhaps Andrew ducked out of the red carpet early, or maybe they just want to keep us in suspense until their next reunion (we're still manifesting that Chicken Shop Date.)

There is also the small morsel of hope that there is footage of their reunion out there somewhere that just hasn't made it onto the worldwide web...but that seems more and more unlikely as the hours tick on. At least we had a Zendaya and Emma Stone moment at Paris Fashion Week though, right?

Understandably, the lack of Andrew and Amelia footage did not go down well with fans, many of whom had tuned in just for a glimpse of their sizzling chemistry. As one viewer tweeted: "The #Oscars are great and all. Hollywood’s biggest night, SURE. But I just need to know if Amelia got to interview Andrew Garfield again."

As another wrote: "andrew and amelia PLEASE TELL ME YOU TALKED i need a third instalment of these interviews #Oscars"

One Twitter user pretty much summed up our energy—"If I don't wake up to a new video of Amelia & Andrew Garfield together chatting at the #Oscars I will be livid. And if there is, I will be feral and happy."

But, as the realization started to set in, Amelia and Andrew stans couldn't help but voice their heartbreak...

One tweeted: "the biggest rob of the night was the fact that we didn't get any amelia and andrew footage #Oscars".

While another quipped: "No Amelia and Andrew interview tonight, im a bit disappointed."

We feel this one very strongly: "No amelia and andrew garfield interview from last night i’m deeply devastated."
