Arcwave launches first ever masturbation hotline to help men open up about self-pleasure
Self-pleasure is self-care!
It might be a natural, healthy and downright fun form of self-care, but we know that masturbation can still be an uneasy conversation for a lot of people. In fact, according to a recent survey by sex toy brand Arcwave, nearly half of men never talk about it at all—but that could be set to change as the brand has launched the first-ever masturbation hotline to spark an open dialogue about pleasure.
Despite there being a proven gender gap between men and women engaging in masturbation, a new survey from Arcwave, a male pleasure brand, has found that 47% of men never talk about self-pleasure.
So, in response, Arcwave has launched a groundbreaking masturbation hotline in an effort to 'spark a dialogue'—and what better timing than during Masturbation month!
The hotline will provide advice on healthy masturbation habits (like on whether you can masturbate too much), tips about communication and even sex toy recommendations—all in the hopes of encouraging more open conversations around sex and self-pleasure, which will hopefully, in turn, have a knock-on effect on society’s views on masturbation in general.
Explaining the decision to launch the hotline, Johanna Rief, Head of Sexual Empowerment at Arcwave, says: “Unfortunately, masturbation is still a taboo for all gender identities globally. But the conversation around the health and wellness benefits of masturbation in the last decade has been led by the female empowerment movement.
Rief continues: “Opening up this new line of communication with men can help them develop a similar masturbation mindset that gives more relevancy to healthy and wellness-driven, but still fun routines.”
Lovehoney sexpert, Calum McSwiggan also adds that despite masturbation being a recognized stress reliever and mood booster it’s still met with stigma.
McSwiggan says because of this, “the Arcwave hotline is a great campaign to encourage more men to have a more open and fun conversation about sexual wellness as well offer a platform for men who are seeking new sensations in their masturbation routine and to enhance their orgasms.”
Along with the hotline, Arcwave has also launched a brand new sex toy called the ‘Arcwave VOY’...
Arcwave Voy
RRP: $99/£79
The Voy is a premium compact stroker, which targets the Merkel-Ranvier receptors in the skin of the penis.
It uses a unique Tightness Adjustment System (TAS) to stimulate and can be activated by rotating the adjustment wheel behind the top lid, which increases or decreases the silicone’s tightness.
Hopefully, this new campaign will kickstart a positive shift towards a more open and empowering view of masturbation!
