Disney has announced a Beauty and the Beast prequel series is coming soon
Gaston and LeFou are back
Disney has revealed a Beauty and the Beast musical series in the works for Disney Plus, and it will focus on some fan-favorite characters.
We’ve recently been treated to prequel films for Maleficent and Cruella and now the new series will be a live-action, limited series focusing on Gaston and trusty side-kick LeFou. According to Seventeen, the series is so far working under the title of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ like the original.

Disney has released a statement, saying: “Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle's epic romance, the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou's stepsister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure.”
“While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets.” We’re already invested.
It looks as though we’ll be seeing a brand new adventure and get to see Gaston and Lefou as we’ve never seen them. Luke Evans and Josh Gad are returning to reprise their popular roles as Gaston and LeFou, alongside Briana Middleton who will play Tilly.
Alan Menken, the composer behind many of Disney's most iconic scores, will be composing the music for the series so we have no doubt the songs will be right up there with some of our faves.
Sadly, despite the exciting news, production will not be starting until spring 2022 and no release date has been announced. We’ll just have to distract ourselves with the treasure trove of movies on Disney plus and Disney Star for the time being...
