Fans can’t get over what Emma Watson and Tom Felton said about each other in the Harry Potter Anniversary show

Harry Potter has played a huge role in many of our childhoods, whether you grew up reading the books, watching the films, or both. So the Harry Potter 20th-anniversary show on HBO Max was always going to bring some tears, some never before heard stories, and a whole heap of nostalgia. But what fans probably weren’t expecting was Emma Watson and Tom Felton admitting to loving each other.

It’s not often that your favorite characters or onscreen couples become an item in real life, or even view each other in that way, despite their chemistry. Tom Holland and Zendaya are an exception. So imagine the shock and delight HP fans got when—in true Jen Aniston and David Schwimmer fashion—Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) revealed she'd had a crush on Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) while filming Harry Potter.

In the HBO Max Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special we were treated to adorable cast member reunions, fun behind the scenes stories, and some really heartwarming heart to hearts. None more so than the confessions from Emma and Tom, and don’t even get us started on their reunion hug.

In a solo interview to the camera, Emma admitted that she’d had a childhood crush on Tom throughout the making of the films, saying she would check the call sheet for his name every day. She also said the first moment she fell in love with him was in class when they were asked to draw a picture of God, and Tom drew a girl on a skateboard.

Emma added: “Nothing has ever ever ever ever happened romantically with us, we just love each other. That's all I can say about that."

Tom said in his own interview: “Emma and I have always loved each other.”

He went on to talk about how he saw the relationship: "I became very protective over her [as kids] ... I've always had a soft spot for her, and that continues to this day." Don't know about you but our hearts can't take it!

Now we won’t get into all the HP 'ships’ and fan-favorite pairings, but there are a lot of fans out there who support Hermoine and Draco and others who suspected chemistry between Emma and Tom before—and let's just say this development has already made their year.

One fan took to Twitter saying: “Emma Watson running towards Tom Felton and hugging him twice is exactly what I wanted to see in 2022.”
