Over the last few months, photos of Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell promoting their new rom-com sent the internet into overdrive, with the two seeming to display some off-the-charts chemistry IRL. But last we heard, the Euphoria actress was getting hitched. So, what's actually going on and who is the actor's boyfriend...or should we say fiancé?

While we patiently await the release of Euphoria season 3 (P.S.: no, Zendaya isn't quitting Euphoria), it seems we have some romantic updates to get clued up on amongst the cast. Things have been hectic, from Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike's rumored split, to Maude Apatow's boyfriend situation, but Sydney Sweeney's dating sitch currently has our full, undivided attention. Allow us to unravel this mysterious case, to work out whether the 25-year-old is still engaged...

Sydney Sweeney boyfriend update: was she dating Glen Powell?

While there was a ton of speculation that Sydney and Top Gun: Maverick star, Glen are dating, the pair are just co-stars...for now. According to People, Glen was seeing Jehane-Marie "Gigi" Paris, but after all the cutesy interactions with Sydney surfaced, she unfollowed him on Instagram.

Gigi then decided to post a cryptic Instagram video strutting her stuff in an all-black outfit with the caption, "know your worth & onto the next" on Wednesday, April 26, just after Sydney and Glen's too-close-for-comfort CinemaCon interaction. During the event, the actor joked to the audience that: "We [he and Sydney] love seeing ourselves on the big screen," Sydney chimed in with an interesting remark. 

"Oh, please, Top Gun,” she said, referencing his Top Gun: Maverick role. “I love when she calls me that,” Glen replied. 

Soon after these very public interactions, in late April, it was reported that Gigi and Glen had split up after three years of dating. At the time, a source told People magazine: "Gigi and Glen had broken up several times. They had been on the rocks since Top Gun came out. Gigi was never happy with the long-distance filming and when she came to Australia, they both decided to break up for good."

Who is Sydney Sweeney engaged to?

Sydney Sweeney keeps her private life pretty tightly under wraps, but she is reportedly in a long-term relationship with 37-year-old Chicago-based restaurant owner, Jonathan Davino. 

According to Elle, they have been together for five years now and it's even thought that the pair are engaged. But over the last few months, rumors and speculation have been rife, with fans and media pondering whether the pair are still in fact engaged.

Sweeney and Davino were photographed out and about in New York City on Friday, April 28, after attending an Armani Beauty event according to People. Additionally, they appeared to be on romantic terms, considering he is said to have had his arm around her at several points throughout the evening.

However, no one can say what's going on for certain. Sweeney was reportedly not wearing her engagement ring, and this unexpected date night came on the heels of another interesting move: Davino seemingly moving out of the home he shares with his fiancée. PageSix reportedly saw him transporting a lot of heavy goods—a dog bed, golf clubs and luggage—which got split rumors cooking once more.

The Euphoria actress has been subject to huge amounts of speculation around her relationship recently, sometimes appearing out in public with her engagement ring, and sometimes leaving it behind. 

In May 2023, Sydney and her rumored fiancé Jonathan Davino were spotted arm-in-arm at Cannes Film Festival—where she was wearing her engagement ring.

However, the star has left fans confused once more by living her best hot girl summer in Europe, where she's been seen partying in Ibiza on yachts and in nightclubs, apparently sans Jonathan. In fact, she recently shared a photo dump of her travels on Instagram, but the images didn't include her rumored beau.

Now, a woman can obviously party away without her partner as often and for as long as she likes. And there's every chance that she simply doesn't *want* to post pics of Davino on her socials. But it appears that her engagement ring hasn't made it along to her European travels, leaving fans wondering if the pair are still together, or if maybe, they are just no longer engaged.

The truth about Sydney Sweeney's relationship sitch is anyone's guess, but we reckon she's simply doing whatever she wants, however she wants—and we applaud that!

When did Sydney Sweeney get engaged?

Sydney's engagement news came after E! Online reported that on February 28, 2022, Sydney was spotted not only sporting new red hair but a huge diamond ring too, while out and about. They also shared a pap picture of the 25-year-old Madame Web star, with said ring on her finger.

Now, of course, wearing a ring on that finger doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting married—people can wear whatever rings they like on whatever finger they want. However, in the pictures, Sydney does indeed appear to be wearing the ring on her wedding finger. Plus. it does look an awful lot like an engagement ring—and an incredibly glam one at that.

That being said, the actress herself never confirmed the news of an engagement, and she's unlikely ever to, as she has admitted she prefers to keep her love life private. Plus in February 2022 (around the same time those ring pictures surfaced) she told Cosmo that she doesn't date actors. She added: "I don't date people in the spotlight. I don't date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it's easiest. I have a great support system."

Is it possible that she's had a change of heart? According to Sydney Sweeney's birth chart—Sun in Virgo, Moon in Capricorn and Rising in Scorpio—there could be a few instances that led to her alleged switch.
