We all know Meghan Markle ditched the Hollywood limelight for a quiet life with Prince Harry and son Archie. And while the former Suits star hadn't shown much interest in returning to acting, the eagle-eyed among you may have been wondering if Meghan Markle is now on NCIS Los Angeles...
The show's producer Donald P. Bellisario kept fans on their toes by introducing a new character to the cast. In the upbeat episode, NCIS Los Angeles' headquarters had a strange visit from the Department of Homeland Security.

So was Meghan Markle actually on NCIS Los Angeles?
The agent who was carrying out the check-up was DHS Agent Megan Merkel, but it was not the Duchess of Sussex. Played by Tiffany Smith, who has an unmistakable resemblance to Meghan Markle, it comes as no surprise that fans were hoodwinked into thinking it was the duchess.
Tiffany Smith is known for portraying the royal in Lifetime's movie 'Harry and Meghan: Becoming Royal in 2019'. And the character certainly looks a lot like Meghan, but unfortunately, it wasn't her, just a very convincing lookalike.

Twitter fans were just as surprised to see "Meghan" as commenters wrote: "NCIS LA had a character named "Megan Merkel". The same actress played Meghan Markle in the tv movie. Well spoofed. Funny."
Another chimed: "On Sunday nights I watch NCIS LA. I had to rewind it to make sure I heard it correctly. So then I had to hit up Google to make sure I really heard it right."

Tiffany's great performance didn't go unnoticed as one commenter said: "Awesome job “Megan Merkel” @tiffany_smith hope you return!!! Also great job to Kayla Smith with her character Kam! Maybe I’m biased because my name is actually Kam too. Either way fun episode!! Congrats!!! Smith & Smith you two must be up to something 😊👍🏾😉".
And fans were quick to congratulate the writers for their wit: "Props to the writers for that one."

Tiffany confirmed that she is only guest-starring on the episode for now. However, she did reply, “but you never know”, when fans asked whether she will be a regular.
And what are the odds that Meghan Markle's' doppelgänger was on the show the same night Harry and Meghan announced that they are pregnant with baby Sussex number two? A crazy crossover, that’s for sure!
