Where in the world are people most affectionate? A new study might inspire you to pack your bags
Which country's residents are most famous for hugging and kissing? You'd be surprised!
The most affectionate countries have been revealed, and it might be time to take a few pointers from our neighbors.
Lovehoney just uncovered the surprising results for the countries with the highest sex drive, but new research from Scientific Reports dialed down the intimacy and focused on which locales are most likely to hug and kiss. (Yes, getting cozy has its health benefits.)
Although societies have varying views on tenderness, the study indicates that one truth is universal: "Despite considerable intercultural differences, affectionate touch behaviors such as an embrace, caress, kiss, and hug, were universally present in partnerships all over the world."
So, which places indulge in those behaviors the most, and are they shelling out any pointers?
What are the most affectionate countries in the world?
According to the results, these are the top 10 locations that show the most touch toward their partners:
- Austria
- Germany
- Cuba
- Australia
- Sweden
- Hungary
- Colombia
- Belgium
- Slovenia
- United States
In the study, the professionals gathered and analyzed data from 7,681 volunteers across 37 different countries. Participants filled out two questionnaires and from there, the experts were able to find their results by calculating the average value for all participants.
The second portion of the research focused on frequency and indicated that volunteers touched their loved ones a little less than four times per hour and kissed one or fewer times per hour. There was a discrepancy between the two, however: the norm was between zero to 10 hugs per hour and between zero and 20 kisses per hour. Regardless of the numbers or the locales with top status, love and touch are definitely linked.
Sometimes hugs and kisses might be overlooked for the steamier activities, but they're the basis for any good connection. Plus, they often lead to said steamier activities.
"It is super important that you have such intimate times together. This is really where you set the direction for the relationship," Jacob Østerby Bager, a researcher at Bedbible.com previously told My Imperfect Life.
