Simone Ashley reveals the odd way she prepared for Bridgerton sex scenes
We don’t remember this one in our sex-ed?
Star of Bridgerton season two, Simone Ashley has revealed that snails played a major role in those Bridgerton sex scenes and how is actually pretty interesting.
Anyone who has watched the steamy, tension-filled hours that made up Bridgerton’s sophomore season will know, that when it comes to ‘Kanthony,’ their connection is pretty electric. Especially in the bedroom, which after what felt like endless charged glances and almost kisses—made for very blush-inducing TV!
But despite their very believable sexual chemistry, we know now alot of work went into creating those sex scenes—including it seems, some very bizarre insect inspo…

In an interview with Los Angles Times’ podcast ‘The Envelope, Simone explained that snails actually played a big role in their intimacy training, along with a host of other strange visuals.
She said: “We explored the movement of different animals to kind of portray different paces or different sexualities or how sensual something could be.”
She went on to explain how and where the snails came in, saying: “For example, we looked at how snails mate, and when snails mate, they actually produce a plasma that intertwines. So if it was a really sensual, slow kind of scene, we’d be like, ‘Oh, it’s like the snail. And it’s super like the plasma, like falling like honey.”

Simone also added that these visuals helped her and on-screen love interest Jonathan Bailey (aka Anthony Bridgerton) see the scenes as more of a ‘dance’ and made it all about the characters and their movements. This approach clearly paid off if the amount of Bridgerton thirst tweets after the season dropped is anything to go by…
And while the second season was less ‘steamy’ than the first, the third installment looks set to yet again get pulses pumping—as we see things heat up between Colin and Penelope!
Let's just hope by then you’ll have gotten the image of snails mating out of your head…
