Is Taylor Swift engaged?
We interrupt the Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal memes to bring you up to speed. Coincidentally, on the same day the actor’s new tell-all with Esquire hit newsstands (February 17), sources revealed to Life & Style that Swift and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn—Conversations with Friends star—are planning to tie the knot.
Though the queen of the breakup song lets it all out in her lyrics (well, somewhat), she has been pretty keen on keeping her love life with Alwyn out of the spotlight. But after the duo traveled to Cornwall, England, the actor’s hometown, in late January, everyone seems to think their three-day couples’ getaway meant that they were taking their relationship to the next level.
The two have been dating since 2016, and though fans seem to think plenty of the star's ballads are about her beau, they, of course, would love confirmation. Alwyn for his part has been pretty secretive about their love as well but did give us a bit of insight in a new interview for Deadline, where he talks about his Conversations With Friends character, who is in an open relationship.
"I think people can do what they want and makes them happy. I’m obviously happy in a monogamous relationship," he told the outlet.
He continued: "But I think one of the interesting things about Sally Rooney's writings [author of Conversations with Friends] and what she explores is happiness, love, desire and intimacy outside of those constructs that we create for ourselves, whether that’s friendships or families or relationships. So I think as a conversation it’s endlessly fascinating."
We'll be fascinated when we know for sure if the two are going to be man and wife. Fans, keep your eyes peeled on Swift's social media for any clues!
