Keke Palmer just responded to that Usher serenade drama in the *most* iconic way possible
'Somebody said that your boyfriend's looking for me'
We can't say for certain, but it seems the new Usher and Keke Palmer video, "Boyfriend," is about to stir the pot...and then some.
News of the collab broke on Tuesday, August 15, when the singer teased a clip of his music video alongside the Nope actor. This creative spark is seemingly in response to Keke Palmer's boyfriend, Darius Jackson (or now ex-boyfriend—we're still unsure).
For those who need a refresher, Palmer donned a sexy sheer dress during a show at Usher's Las Vegas residency earlier this summer. When a clip of Usher serenading Palmer and her friends made its way back to Darius, he tweeted in disapproval, "It's the outfit tho...you a mom."
Naturally, the virtual floodgates opened, and Palmer's fanbase was taken aback by the judgment she received from the father of her child. He followed up with a tweet that read, "We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn't want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case."
It has since been deleted, and this interaction has seemingly split the two apart. Now, it appears Usher is swooping in to help Palmer throw a lil' shade, much to Spotify playlists' delight. Are your sunnies close by and ready to block said shade?
A sneak peek at the Usher and Keke Palmer video, 'Boyfriend'
Take a look at what's to come when "Boyfriend" drops on Wednesday, August 16. We have a feeling things will take a turn for the dramatic, considering the main lyric we hear in the clip is "Somebody said that your boyfriend's looking for me."
Though Palmer might not be in a great place with Darius, if one at all, she has taken the backlash and used it to create some facetious merch, like this "I'm a Motha" crewneck sweatshirt. Now, she's making an appearance in one of her favorite singer's music videos.
