Zendaya’s Emmy speech spurred a very relatable reaction from Reese Witherspoon
Reese summed up all our emotions about Zendaya’s Emmy speech…
We’ve never related to anything more than Reese Witherspoon’s reaction to Zendaya’s Emmy speech. The actress and fashion icon took home the award for 'Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series' for her role as Rue in Euphoria season two and left a fair few guests (and viewers) misty-eyed with her beautiful words…
Zendaya, who stars in titles like Dune and Spiderman (and is famously dating her spidey co-star Tom Holland) made history once again at the awards ceremony. According to Variety, not only is she the first black woman to win Lead Actress in a Drama twice, but she’s also the youngest two-time Emmy winner ever—thanks to her portrayal as struggling drug addict, Rue in Euphoria.
And let's just say her speech about playing Rue is about the most beautiful thing we’ve ever heard —and clearly actress, Reese Witherspoon thought so too.

The cameras were quick to pan over to the Legally Blonde icon, who looked deeply moved while she clapped Zendaya, before mouthing, ‘beautiful.’
In her said speech, Zendaya thanked her friends and family, along with the cast and crew of Euphoria—namely the director Sam Levinson, before thanking everyone who had shared their personal stories with her.
She said: “I just want to say, my greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help heal people and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me.
“I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know that I’m so grateful for your stories, that I carry them with me and I carry them with her. So thank you so much.” BRB—ugly crying.

While we’re here, we’d also just like to take a moment to appreciate Zendaya’s Emmy dress (as per usual, Zendaya's outfit stole the show).
She wore a floor-length, black Valentino gown, paired with a diamond choker, with her hair tied up in a voluminous high ponytail. It was giving old-Hollywood glam in the most elegant way.

Let’s also not forget the dress she wore to the virtual Emmys in 2020, where she won her first Lead Actress award, surrounded by all her family and wearing a sparkly Georgio Armani two-piece dress.

Before working for Future Publishing’s Lifestyle News team, she worked in the Ad production team. Here she wrote and designed adverts on all sorts of things, which then went into print magazines across all genres. Now, when she isn’t writing articles on celebs, fashion trends, or the newest shows on Netflix, you can find her drinking copious cups of coffee, drawing and probably online shopping.
